SEDC Attends Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

Spearfish, SD – July 30, 2018 – Recognizing the attraction of Spearfish’s strong economic advantages -as well the area’s outdoor recreation/active lifestyle appeal- Spearfish Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has launched a strategic initiative to recruit additional outdoor product manufacturing companies to the community. As part of these efforts, SEDC Executive Director Kory Menken recently attended the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market tradeshow in Denver.

The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is North America’s largest tradeshow in the outdoor industry drawing attendees from throughout the world, including over 600 exhibitors from a variety of industries including backpacking, camping, hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking and fly fishing. “This show provided SEDC with an outstanding opportunity to share the Spearfish story directly with key decision makers and influencers from the outdoor product manufacturing market,” said Menken. “Our participation was especially timely as recently listed Spearfish as one of ‘The Best Home Base Cities for Adventure Enthusiasts.’”

Dakota Seafood Spearfish Receives $100K SERF loan

Dakota Seafood will open it’s doors on the first floor of the new building at the corner of Main Street and Jackson Boulevard.

SPEARFISH – A third new business is set to join Spearfish Brewing and the RedWater Kitchen on the first floor of the new building at the corner of Main Street and Jackson Boulevard in Spearfish: Dakota Seafood Spearfish, LLC, received approval for a $100,000 Spearfish Economic Revolving Fund (SERF) loan Monday.

Kory Menken, Executive director of Spearfish Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Explained that the SEDC Finance/Loan Committee reviewed the SERF loan application on May 30 and recommended that the council approve the loan. In addition to the SERF loan, the business has also received a $202,000 South Dakota WORKS program loan through the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Read more
